On Monday, I begin my last fall quarter at Dartmouth.
Although I’m taking a four-course term and juggling extracurricular commitments, I will maintain this Substack out of a combination of sheer stubborness and narcissism. But there will be a change of pace: instead of posting in the late evening, I will post after exercising in the morning. I will do so every day of the week; I’ll treat the weekend as an extended sabbath.
There are pros and cons to this change of schedule.
Con: I anticipate that my posts will be shorter because I’ll be in a rush to get to my 9AM class.
Pro: The posts will be shorter—brevity is the soul of wit; nobody prefers the dull and loquacious to the witty and sparing.
Pro: I expect my posts to be richer due to meditating on whatever topic I wish to treat before going to bed and then sleeping on it. (I’m only kind of kidding.)
A priori, seems like the new schedule is net-positive. We’ll see if time and observation vindicate the prediction. Here’s hoping.
In the future, I will try to avoid meta posts like this one—it’s meat and potatoes from here on out.
